Maya Rudolph

July 27, 1972: Maya Rudolph is born in Gainesville, Florida to soul singer Minnie Riperton and music producer Richard Rudolph.

1973: The family moves to California to further Minnie's singing career.

Minnie records "Lovin' You", a song she used as a lullabye for Maya. At the end of the song can be heard "Maya Maya Maya."

Maya attends St. Augustine by the Sea school where she meets friend Gwyneth Paltrow.

Early 1990s: While enrolled at The University of California, Santa Cruz, Maya forms a band called Supersauce with friends.

June 1995: Graduates from The University of California, Santa Cruz with a B.A. in photography.

1996: Joins the Weezer spin-off band, The Rentals, singing backup vocals and playing the Moog, a kind of synthesizer.

Jan. 1, 2000: Has a small role Duets, starring her good friend Gwyneth Paltrow. Maya and her father Richard are also the music supervisors for the film.

May 6, 2000: Maya joins the cast of Saturday Night Live, where she parodies Donatella Versace and Christina Aguilera.

July 2001: Tells Rosie magazine, "My mom was black and my dad is Jewish, and I lost my mom when I was seven. That made me feel really different from other kids."

2002: Maya appears with Donatella Versace at the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards.

April 2004: Entertainment Weekly lists her as #20 on their Funniest People in America list.

Summer 2005: Rudolph shoots scenes for Robert Altman's ensemble cast Prairie Home Companion, also starring Meryl Streep, Lindsay Lohan, Woody Harrelson, Kevin Kline, and many others.

Fall 2005: Is expecting her first child with boyfriend of three years, director Paul Thomas Anderson.
