Aug. 4, 1997: TiVo, Inc. is founded by Michael Ramsay and James Barton, both formerly of Silicon Graphics. Their idea is to introduce a product that will "revolutionize the consumer electronics market".
1999: TiVo is first introduced on the market.
Jan. 2000: TiVo announces a partnership with satellite company, Directv.
May 2003: Marty Yudkovitz is brought on as President of TiVo.
June 4, 2004: Eddy Hartenstein resigns from the board of directors.
Sept. 24, 2004: Matt Wisk is named as Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer.
Sept. 30, 2004: TiVo and Netflix announce plans to develop a joint entertainment product.
Nov. 9, 2004: TiVo wins the "Television Technology of the Year" award at the first annual Billboard Digital Entertainment Awards in Los Angeles.
Jan. 12, 2005: Chairman and CEO Mike Ramsay resigns as CEO but plans to remain on as Chairman.
Jan. 31, 2005: TiVo President, Marty Yudkovitz, resigns.
June 27, 2005: Veteran media executive Tom Rogers is named as President and CEO of TiVo, succeeding Mike Ramsay.
July 1, 2005: Jeff Klugman is named Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Service Provider Division.
July 13, 2005: Several TiVo products and innovations are featured at a year-long exhibit at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, VA.
Aug. 15, 2005: TiVo announces that some subscribers will be able to download Independent Film Channel (IFC) programming via broadband to their TiVo Series2™ DVRs.
