Drew Barrymore captured our hearts as Gertie in ET when she was just seven years old. We’ve watched her grow up over the years into the successful actress, mother and businesswoman that she is today. Here’s our Drew Barrymore timeline.

Feb. 22, 1975
Drew Barrymore is born into the infamous Barrymore family in Culver City, California to John Drew Barrymore and Jaid Barrymore (born Ildiko Jaid Mako). Her grandfather is John Barrymore and her grandmother is Dolores Costello. Her great aunt and uncle are Ethel Barrymore and Lionel Barrymore.

Jan. 1976
Makes her debut in a dog food commercial. During the take, she is bitten by her canine co-star.

Dec. 4, 1978
Plays Bobby, a baby boy, in her acting debut in the TV movie Suddenly, Love.

Dec. 12, 1980
Plays Margaret Jessup in her theatrical debut in Altered States.

June 11, 1982
Plays Gertie in the Steven Spielberg movie, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

Nov. 20, 1982
Hosts Saturday Night Live, the youngest person ever to do so.

May 11, 1984
Gets her first leading role playing Charlene ‘Charlie’ McGee in Stephen King’s Firestarter with Heather Locklear.

Sept. 28, 1984
Plays Casey Brodsky in Irreconcilable Differences.

1984
Begins drinking alcohol. Her parents break up the same year.

1985
Begins smoking marijuana.

1987
Begins snorting cocaine.

1988
She enters rehab.

1990
She and her mom, Jaid, have a falling out. The same year, she publishes her autobiography, Little Girl Lost.

May 8, 1992
Plays Ivy in Poison Ivy. The movie rekindles her career.

1993
Models as a Guess? girl.

March 20, 1994
Marries Jeremy Thomas, a Los Angeles bar owner. They are married at his bar by a clairvoyant minister from a psychic hotline.

April 20, 1994
Divorces Jeremy Thomas.

Jan. 1995
Poses nude in Playboy.

Feb. 1995
Steven Spielberg, her godfather, sends her a quilt for her upcoming birthday that says “Cover Yourself Up”. Wrapped within the quilt is the Playboy issue in which she posed nude. Inside the magazine, every nude picture of her has been altered by Spielberg’s art department in such a way that she is fully clothed.

June 6, 1995
Plays Sugar in Batman Forever with Val Kilmer, Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey, and Nicole Kidman.

Sept. 1996
Poses as Marilyn Monroe on the cover of John Kennedy Jr.’s magazine, George.

Sept. 20, 1996
On the Late Show with David Letterman she climbs up on Letterman’s desk and flashes her breasts at him as a birthday present.

Is named one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World by People magazine.

Her $3,000,000 mansion catches fire while she and fiance Tom Green are sleeping. They make it out alive but the mansion is ruined.

March 2001
Marries Tom Green in the South Pacific.

July 7, 2001
Marries Tom Green a second time for the benefit of family and friends in a private ceremony in Malibu.

Dec. 2001
Tom Green files for divorce.

Oct. 15, 2002
The divorce is finalized.

She says she is bisexual: “Do I like women sexually? Yeah, I do. Totally. I have always considered myself bisexual. I love a woman’s body. It is announced that she will be the new face of Italian fashion house Missoni.

Here relationship with Fabrizio Moretti comes to an end.

Former magazine editor Jane Pratt claims on Sirius Satellite Radio that she and Drew had a romance in the 1990s.

Is the voice of Chloie, a white chihuahua, in Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Begins dating Will Kopelman, the son of Chanel CEO Arie Kopelman.

She directs the music video “Our Deal,” a song by Best Coast. The video stars Miranda Cosgrove, ChloĆ« Grace Moretz, Tyler Posey, Shailene Woodley, Donald Glover, and Alia Shawkat.

She and Kopelman announce their engagement.

They are married in Montecito, California.

Their first daughter, Olive Barrymore Kopelman, is born.

She appears on The View and says she is thinking of converting to Judaism: “It’s a beautiful faith and I’m so honored to be around it.”

Their second daughter, Frankie Barrymore Kopelman, is born.

May 23, 2014
Blended, starring Barrymore and Adam Sandler, is released. It is the third romantic comedy the two have done together.

November 2014
She debuts her new wine, Barrymore by Carmel Road Pinot Grigio. She says of her choice to get into the wine industry: “I just love wine. And it was the right thing to do for me to start with a Pinot Grigio because I think that’s where my wine journey as a wine drinker started — was drinking Pinot with my girlfriends.”

January 2015
Drew is nominated for a Razzie for Worst Actress for her role in Blended.
