Feb. 15, 1918: Allan Arbus is born in New York City.
1941: Allan marries Diane Nemerov (who later becomes famous photographer Diane Arbus).
1940s: Allan becomes a photographer for the U.S. Army and teaches Diane his new photographic skills. The pair later establish a successful fashion photography studio under the billing, "Diane and Allan Arbus".
1945: Diane gives birth to their first daughter, Doon Arbus.
1951: They close the studio and move to Europe for a year with daughter Doon, who was then 6 years old.
1954: Diane gives birth to their second daughter, Amy Arbus.
1959: Allan and Diane divorce.
1972: Allan lands the lead role in Robert Downey Sr.'s film, Greaser's Palace.
Sept. 29, 1973: Allan makes his first appearance as psychiatrist Maj. Sydney Freedman on M*A*S*H.
