Oct. 3, 1984: Ashlee Nicole Simpson is born in Texas to Tina and Joe Simpson.

Late 1980s: Simpson begins studying classical ballet.

1995: At the age of 11, Simpson is admitted to the School of American Ballet in New York City.

2001: Appears in an episode of sitcom Malcolm in the Middle.

2002: Has a small role in The Hot Chick.

2002-2004: Has a recurring role on tv's 7th Heaven.

2003: Records "Just Let Me Cry" for the Freaky Friday soundtrack.

July 20, 2004: Her first album, Autobiography, debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and sells approximately 400,000 copies in its first week

Summer 2004: The Ashlee Simpson Show, a reality show about her life as an up and coming performer, debuts on MTV.

Sept. 2004: Autobiography is certifed triple platinum.

Oct. 24, 2004: Simpson is the musical guest on Saturday Night Live with Jude Law as the host. During her second performance, the song is heard before Simpson opens her mouth, leading to accusations of lip synching that she finds hard to live down.

Oct. 25, 2004: Simpson calls Total Request Live and tries to explain the Saturday Night Live fiasco. She says that her father required her to use a pre-recorded vocal track due to her severe acid reflux and that her doctor had advised her not to sing. She says the drummer hit the button for the wrong guide track and says: "I made a complete fool of myself."

Oct. 31, 2004: 60 Minutes airs footage from Simpson's SNL rehearsals that show she was indeed having trouble with her voice before the show.

Dec. 1, 2004: As a duet, Simpson and sister Jessica Simpson sing "Little Drummer Boy" on ABC's Nick & Jessica's Family Christmas.

Dec. 31, 2004: Simpson hosts the West Coast portion of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve with Regis Philbin hosting the East Coast portion in Dick Clark's absence.

Jan. 2005: Is named Entertainment Weekly's "Breakout Star of 2004" January 2005.

Jan. 4, 2005: Simpson performs at the halftime show for the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida and is loudly booed after finishing her song.

Jan. 12, 2005: Jessica and Ashlee tie for #3 in Mr. Blackwell's 45th Annual Worst-Dressed Women list. Says Blackwell: "From gaudy, to grim, to downright frenetic. These two prove that bad taste is positively genetic!"

Feb. 2005: Appears on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine, which names her the "Fun Fearless Female of the Year".

Aug. 2005: Appears on the cover of Cosmo Girl magazine.

Aug. 26, 2005: Has a supporting role in the independent film, Undiscovered.
