1969: Blythe Danner plays the wife in Paltrow's off-Broadway play, Someone's Coming Hungry. The two begin a relationship.

Sept. 28, 1972:: Daughter Gwyneth Paltrow is born.
1975: Son Jake Paltrow is born.
April 2, 1982: Directs his first feature film, A Little Sex, starring Tim Matheson and Kate Capshaw.
Sept. 1982: The medical drama St. Elsewhere premieres on NBC. Paltrow is executive producer and director of the acclaimed show.
1997: Receives the first Diversity Award from the Directors Guild of America.
Jan. 1 2000: Directs and produces the film Duets starring his daughter, Gwyneth, as well as Scott Speedman, Paul Giamatti, Huey Lewis, and Maria Bello.
