David Schwimmer Timeline

Nov. 12, 1966: David Schwimmer is born in Astoria, New York to Arlene Coleman-Schwimmer and Authur Schwimmer.

1988: Graduates from Northwestern University with a B.S. in speech/theater.

1988: Co-founds Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre Company with friend Joey Slotnick and seven other Northwestern graduates.

1994: Plays Ross Geller on the sitcom, Friends, with Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox-Arquette, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and Lisa Kudrow. The show runs for ten years.

1995: Receives an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category for his role in Friends.

Feb. 27, 1998: Stars in Kissing a Fool with Mili Avital and Jason Lee. He and Avital begin dating.

1998: Directs the TV movie Since You've Been Gone in which both of his parents have roles.

Jan. 2003: Directs a play, Turnaround, at the West Hollywood Coast theater.

Attended Beverly Hills High School and performed in stage productions there.

2005: Stars in Neil LaBute's play Some Girl(s) at the Geilgud Theatre in London.
