June 9, 1963: Born John Christopher Depp II in Owensboro, Kentucky to Betty Sue (Palmer) Depp and John Christopher Depp Sr.
1975: Mother buys him a guitar.
1980: After his parents divorce he quits school and focuses on his music aspirations. His band The Kids opens for Iggy Pop one time only.
Early 1983: He and his band, The Kids, move to Los Angeles and change their name to Six Gun Method. Due to lack of gigs bringing in the money, he works as a telemarketer selling ballpoint pens.
Mid 1983: Marries makeup artist Lori Anne Allison.
1994: Meets acter Nicolas Cage who jumpstarts Depp's acting juices and refers him to an agent.
Nov. 16, 1984: Makes movie debut in A Nightmare on Elm Street. He gets the part because the producers daughter has a crush on him.
1985: Divorces Lori Anne Allison.
1986: Takes acting lessons at the The Loft Studios. Begins dating
actress Sherlyn Fenn.
Dec. 19, 1986: Plays Pvt. Gator Lerner in Oliver Stone's Platoon.
Apr. 4, 1987: Joins the crew of 21 Jump Street.
1988: Breaks up with Sherlyn Fenn.
May 31, 1988: Gets a tattoo that reads "Betty Sue."
Late 1989: Begins dating Winona Ryder. Not long after gets a tattoo that reads "Winona forever."
Feb. 26, 1990: Announces engagement to Winona Ryder.
Apr. 6, 1990: Stars in Cry-Baby.
July 16, 1990: Leaves 21 Jump Street.

1993: Depp and Chuck E. Weiss win the bidding war for Central nightclub, paying $350,000. Other bidders are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Frank Stallone. Depp renames it The Viper Room.
Apr. 16, 1993: Stars in Benny and Joon.
June 21, 1993: Announces engagement is off with Winona Ryder. Not long after he has the tattoo on his arm changed from "Winona forever" to "Wino forever."
Sept. 12, 1993: River Phoenix dies outside Depp's LA club The Viper Room.
Dec. 17, 1993: Stars in What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
Jan. 1994: Meets model Kate Moss and soon after begins dating her.
Mid 1994: Gets arrested for smashing up a New York hotel room with his fists and combat boots. The victims include a glass coffee table and other innocent furniture. Depp insists an armadillo lept out of the closet and made the mess but the armadillo is never found.
Apr. 7, 1995: Stars in Don Juan DeMarco with Marlon Brando.
Feb. 28, 1997: Stars in Donnie Brasco.
May 10, 1997: Makes director debut with The Brave. It is
released only in Cannes, France.
May 22, 1998: Plays Hunter in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Summer 1998: While filming The Ninth Gate he falls in love with actress/singer Vanessa Paradis.
Jan. 31, 1999: In front of Mirabelle, a London restaurant, he threatens the paparazzi with a wooden plank and is arrested for his troubles.
Nov.19, 1999: Plays Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hollow.
May 27, 1999: Vanessa Paradis gives birth to Lily-Rose Melody Depp.
Aug. 29, 1999: Plays Jack Kerouac in The Source.
