Larry Linville is born in Ojai, California. He is raised in Sacramento, California.
1950s
Studies aeronautical engineering at the University of Colorado, but gives it up when he finds out he is color blind.
1962
Marries Kate Greer, daughter of actors Will Geer and Herta Ware, in Carson City, Nevada with a souvenir Indian ring as a wedding ring.
July 26, 1965
Linville and wife Kate participate in the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival.
1970
His only child, Kelly Linville, is born.
Sept. 17, 1972
The first episode of the tv series,
M*A*S*H, airs on CBS, entitled "M*A*S*H the Pilot". Linville plays the role of Major Frank Burns. In one interview, Linville says he based his portrayal of Burns on "every idiot I've ever known."
Sept. 20, 1977
Linville's last M*A*S*H episode, "Fade In, Fade Out," airs. Destroyed by Margaret's marriage to Donald Penobscot, Frank Burns goes crazy, so Colonel Potter sends him to Tokyo for some R&R. There are reports of his bizarre behavior in Tokyo and he never returns. His character is replaced by that of Major Charles Winchester, played by David Ogden Stiers.

He is diagnosed with

Linville dies at the age of 60 of pneumonia in New York City after complications from lung cancer surgery.
