Born as Mark Robert Wahlberg in Dorchester, Massachusetts to Alma and Donald Wahlberg.
1982
Parents divorce.
1983
Booted out of a local Boys & Girls Club.
1984
Along with his brother Donnie, he joins New Kinds on the Block.
1984
Three months after joining, he is either kicked out, or quits, New Kids on the Block. The singing act says it's because he can't sing. Mark reminds them that they are lip-synching, which is the reason why he left. He feels he can sing and moving his mouth without saying a word just doesn't cut it.
1985
Gets involved in the drug scene and drops out of high school. Also steals cars during this period.
1986
Works blue collar jobs as a bricklayer, hospital worker, and a trainee mechanic.

Charged with harassing black students.
April 1988
Robs a Vietnamese man of his beer and gouges his eye out with a meathook. Is sentenced to 90 days in jail but only serves half of that.
1989
Lives with his aunt's father, a drill sergeant in the Marines, who does his best to bring order to Mark's life. Even goes as far as taking him down to the Marine Recruiting Office, but discovers that Mark cannot join because he doesn't have a high school diploma.

Works with his brother, Donnie, to form the act Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
1991
Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch opens for New Kids on the Block.
June 1991
Returns to that Boys & Girls Club he was kicked out of back in 1983 and becomes part of the board of directors.
July 1991
Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch release the single "Good Vibrations". It becomes their number one single.
Late 1991
Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch release their first album Music For The People. It goes platinum.

Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch release second album You Gotta Believe.

Calvin Klein signs him as a model for a one year stint, worth a reported $100,000.
