July 13, 1940: Born as Patrick Stewart in Mirfield, Yorkshire, England.
1949: Plays Tom Of Towngate in a local outdoor history pageant.
1952: Attends the local Secondary Modern School and continues his drama studies.
1953: After reading Shylock aloud in front of his class, his teacher says, "Stewart, you're good at this. You should do it for a living." He considers this the greatest thing that has ever happened to him.
1955: Drops out of school and participates a lot more in local theater.
1955: Gets a job as a newspaper reporter. He attends rehearsals during work time and makes up the stories he reports.
1956: His boss questions Stewart about a large fire that he has no idea about it. He was at the local theater when it broke out. The boss tells him to make a choice: journalism or acting.
