July 20, 1971Sandra Oh is born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
1975Begins taking ballet lessons.
1981Plays "The Wizard of Woe" in her first play, The Canada Goose.
1986Attends Sir Robert Borden High School in Nepean, Ontario, Canada where she studies theatre and takes up numerous drama courses. She also becomes part of the Student Council.
1986Says in a Bust interview later down the road on her high school days: "I was a typical drama freak who needed to express herself. My favourite outfit was orange palazzo pants that I'd wear with this beat-up tuxedo jacket. And I'd have my hair up with a giant bow."
1986At age 15 she begins appearing in TV commericals.
1987Becomes a member of the volleyball and cross-country ski teams.
1988Takes part in the High School Improv Games. It is at these games that she is asked to join the student improv troupe, "Skit Row High." When she wins the games she is so excited that she tears the trophy from the presenter's hands and it cracks.
1990Attends National Theatre School in Montreal where she studies theatre.
1993She wins the lead role on the CBC TV movie The Diary of Evelyn Lau, leaving 1000 other hopefuls in her wake. She impresses the Montreal media when she speaks in French to talk about the role.
Sept. 7, 1994Appears in Double Happiness.
1996Moves to Los Angeles.
1996Plays Rita Wu in the HBO comedy, Arli$$. She plays the role for the next 7 years.
July 3, 1997Appears in the Bean with Rowan Atkinson and Burt Reynolds.
May 1998Stars in Last Night with Sarah Polley.
Sept. 10, 1998Appears in the French-Canadian film, Le Violin Rouge (The Red Violin).

2001Meets Alexander Payne at a social event, who, after months of him bugging her, she finally agrees to go on a date with him. She says of him: "From having seen his films (Citizen Ruth and Election), I knew he was cool. He was also gorgeous and personable and I really enjoyed being in his company, but that day we met I didn't think I was going to spend the rest of my life with him."

March 27, 2005Grey's Anatomy debuts mid-season on ABC, with Oh in the role of Dr. Cristina Yang. She says to the Associated Press of her role: "I get to play a woman who is extremely ambitious and unapologetic and driven, and sometimes not very sympathetic."
March 11, 2005A spokesperson for the Oh and husband Payne announces their split and says that the "couple will remain friends" and the pair "mutually decided to separate."
April 2005She files for divorce.
Sept 25, 2005The second season of Grey's Anatomy begins.
Jan. 16, 2006She says after winning a Golden Globe: "I dragged my seven-month pregnant sister to every party and she watched me drink, while she drank water. I tortured my sister."
Aug. 4, 2006The Night Listener is released, with Oh in the role of Anna. The film also stars Robin Williams and Toni Collette.
