Patrick Stewart Timeline

July 13, 1940: Born as Patrick Stewart in Mirfield, Yorkshire, England.

1949: Plays Tom Of Towngate in a local outdoor history pageant.

1952: Attends the local Secondary Modern School and continues his drama studies.

1953: After reading Shylock aloud in front of his class, his teacher says, "Stewart, you're good at this. You should do it for a living." He considers this the greatest thing that has ever happened to him.

1955: Drops out of school and participates a lot more in local theater.

1955: Gets a job as a newspaper reporter. He attends rehearsals during work time and makes up the stories he reports.

1956: His boss questions Stewart about a large fire that he has no idea about it. He was at the local theater when it broke out. The boss tells him to make a choice: journalism or acting.

1956: Quits his job as a newspaper reporter.

1956: Becomes a furniture salesman.

1957: Registers at the Bristol Old Vic.

1959: Alopecia runs in his family and he loses most of his hair by the age of nineteen.

1959: Uses his baldness to his advantage by auditioning with and
without a wig.

Aug. 1959: At the Theatre Royal, Lincoln, Stewart plays Morgan in his professional stage debut in the stage adaptation of Treasure Island.

1964: Meets Sheila Falconer, the Old Vic's choreographer.

1966: Joins the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Mar. 3, 1966: Marries Sheila Falconer.

1967: The Royal Shakespeare Company makes him an Associate Artist.

Aug. 22, 1975: Plays Tilney in Hennessy.

Aug. 15, 1976: Plays Sejanus in I, Claudius.

Nov. 25, 1980: Plays Wilkins in Little Lord Fauntleroy.

Apr. 10, 1981: Plays Leondegrance in Excalibur.

Dec. 14, 1984: Plays Gurney Halleck in Dune.

1987: Gets his big break starring as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation.

1990: Divorces Sheila Falconer.

July 28, 1993: Plays King Richard in Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

Oct. 14, 2003: Divorces Wendy Neuss.

2004: Begins dating Lisa Dillon.
